Teaching

I enjoy teaching and advising graduate students pursuing certifications and advanced degrees in the field of blindness and visual impairment. As an instructor of graduate student, my goal is to train future teachers who will not only be excellent teachers of students but who will also be lifelong learners themselves. To effectively teach students with visual impairments (of all ages), teachers must be:

  • skilled instructors of the full range of curricula;
  • informed, active, thoughtful participants in, contributors to, and consumers of research in the field; and
  • culturally responsive and collaborative team members, coaches, and supervisors when working with students, schools, families, and professional organizations.
